Weight loss programs all boil down to basic math. You need to burn more calories than you consume. This is accomplished in two ways: burning more calories and/or in-taking less calories. Doing some physical activity burns more calories and eating healthier foods can reduce your caloric intake.

Something that helped many dieter was to keep a notebook on their daily caloric food counts as well as keeping a record of their progress to a desired weight. As with any goal you need to keep it realistic. You’re not trying to set a new Guinness Book of Records for weight loss in a given period of time.

Before every meal you should drink a tall glass of water. Perhaps even sprucing it up with a slice of lemon or lime will pep it up. The underlying thought is that with a fuller feeling stomach you’ll want to eat less. Besides, it flushes out toxins from your body and replenishes your fluid level.

It’s also important to get a normal amount of sleep. Studies show that when people don’t get their 7 or 8 hours rest they produce a hormone that tells the brain more food is needed. They especially crave sweets and starchy foodstuff which is not a good thing for a weight watcher.

Did you know that you can trick you brain into thinking your stomach is filled up? By simply choosing vegetables, fruits and grains rich in fiber and water your brain tells your body you’re filled up faster than had you not consumed these types of foods.

Most people love to go out to eat so you need to be on guard. You need to avoid the soup and order the salad. Stay away from the bread and snacks that are offered. If you are going to drink alcohol, limit yourself to 1 or 2 drinks.

You need to avoid the bad carbohydrates and the detrimental fats. Dr. Arthur Agatston wrote The South Beach Diet. It that book he advises weight watchers to avoid white pasta, white bread, white rice, white sugar white potatoes … any foodstuff that looks white, look away.

Consider going to a gym if you cannot find physical activities that suits your schedule. Gyms are a great place to continue your exercise program since it’s impossible to remain motionless in a gym. The upshot is, the more you exercise the more calories you burn off.

There are other obvious ways that you can exercise by, for instance, taking advantage of the stairs instead of the elevator at work. Staying active during the day, taking walks at lunch or coffee breaks increases your metabolism which in turn burns more calories.
