Not everyone can handle a super-high protein intake.  Some people have bad kidneys, but most just don’t have the appetite or the will power to eat large amounts of meat, fish, and eggs all day long.  If you do, however, a super-high protein intake is the quickest way to build muscle with your diet.  Ignore the “gurus” that claim you can only digest 30 grams per meal.  If that was true, then the guys eating 500-600 grams per day would be seeing no real benefit from it, but they DO!

 

A good rule of thumb is to start with 1 gram of protein per pound of bodyweight per day.  If you weighed 150 pounds, you would start with 150 grams of protein per day.  The next step, after a few weeks, is to increase this to 1.5 grams per pound, per day.  Finally, increase your protein intake to 2 grams per pound of bodyweight per day.  This will take some dedication when it comes to buying, cooking, and eating your food, but it is the quickest way to build muscle, and you will notice huge strength gains in the gym.

 

3. Brute Strength

 

If you want the quickest way to build muscle, you’re going to have to focus on getting super strong on basic movements like the squat, bench press, and deadlift.  Forget fancy techniques and light weight for high reps.  Your goal every day in the gym should be to smash your personal bests and add more weight to the bar.  If you can do more than 5-6 reps with a weight, it’s not heavy enough!  If you doubt whether heavy lifting is the quickest way to build muscle, just turn on the TV and look at the competitors in strongman and powerlifting competitions.
