3. GIVE YOUR MUSCLES A REASON TO GROW

Make your muscles work! Provide the stimulus for your muscles to grow. For example: if you bench press twice a week, add on another 5 or 10 lbs every week to make sure you are not doing the same weight and to keep your muscles from getting used to it. That is called progressive overload. Keep increasing the weight on your exercises. You should also mix up your rep ranges from time to time. That way you can make sure you hit all your slow and fast twitch muscle fibers. In weight training, change is good. Keep your muscles guessing so they dont adapt to your workouts. Id say that changing up your workout routine every 4-6 weeks is good.

4. LIFT WEIGHTS NO MORE THAN 3 OR 4 TIMES A WEEK

Anymore than four days in my opinion is too much. You can easily over-train yourself by working out too much and not getting enough rest. If you have a job and other obligations you have more stress on your body and mind to deal with. Sometimes in weight training less is more.

5. LIMIT YOUR WORKOUTS TO 30-45 MINS. OR AN HOUR MAX!

There is no reason why your workout should last longer than that. You have the highest levels of energy during the first 45 mins of your workout and your HGH and testosterone levels are at their peak also. After that time frame chemicals like lactic acid and cortisol starts to creep in and the other hormone levels decrease.

6. USE THE BIG COMPOUND EXERCISES AND LIFT HEAVY!

Deadlifts, Military Presses, Squats, Bench Presses, Rows, Chin Ups and Dips should always be included somewhere in your workout routine. These exercises have stood the test of time and they work, period! If time doesnt allow you to have all these in your routine then at least get in the big three: Squats, Deadlifts, and Bench Press.

7. FIND A GOOD TRAINING PARTNER IF YOU CAN

A good training partner can make all the difference in the world! Your partner will provide motivation, you can feel alot safer on those heavy lifts because your partner can spot you. The friendly competition that you can develop will benefit the both of you and skyrocket your gains. A workout partner can really push you to the next level. If you can find one then go get one. But if not…

8. BRING YOUR OWN MUSIC!

Music can definitely help you bring up the intensity of your workout. If you dont have a partner to motivate and push you then maybe your favorite jams will. If you need someone to spot you on a heavy lift, dont be afraid to ask a trainer or someone near you. Just dont be a pest!LOL
