Doesn’t matter who you are or what your station in life is, a good percentage of us are carrying around too many inches and too much body fat that could be a real detriment to your health. The best mantra you could stick to when thinking about a diet is; “if you have body fat, lose it”; that way you can choose a diet or eating plan that will serve your purposes.

Think of all the diets and fads and gimmicks that are out there on the market and on the airways that are meant to trap well-meaning overweight people who have body fat to lose but just can’t seem to get the momentum to start. The trick in losing body fat is not just cutting down on calories, but finding an eating plan with exercise planned in that you like the regimen and you like the food so you will stick with it. What good is a wonderful, sound plan if you give up on it after a few weeks.

Start by turning off the TV and not listening to the hucksters who would want you to believe that all will be hunky-dory in your world if you just buy their magic weight loss pill that will turn you into a slim and sexy knockout without having to do much more than just swallow the pill. Those gimmicks don’t work; all you will be doing is spending your hard-earned money for nothing, when you should be concentrating on getting yourself healthy. There are many side benefits from dropping weight, most of them have to do with helping your heart; and warding off diabetes, or just all around feeling energized and really good about yourself.

The first and biggest hurdle you must overcome if you have body fat to lose, is developing a positive attitude about yourself, your life, the way you will look when you have lost the weight, and the determination to stick it out to the end. Nothing can come of anything if you are not positively charged about what you are undertaking, and you can do anything you want to if you just think in a positive way and go for it. You have to find a food plan that will lock into your lifestyle and will work with you as you develop a new way of living; which is not the easiest thing in the world. You must bid farewell to those greasy burgers and fries, sugar-laden desserts, and heavy creamy sauces etc. because they will not longer be a part of your new life; they are killers and should be eliminated.

Once you have made up your mind that you are no longer a sheep in the murky world of diet fads and greasy foods; it is time to choose what it is that you are going to do to work on that body fat and lose it. The first step in your positive way of thinking and your move to a new and better you, is to choose a lifestyle plan that will make you feel good, and one you will stay with because you like it. You should concentrate on a plan that embodies good, sound nutrition; recommends drinking plenty of water, has a good plan for exercise to help boost the effects of the eating regimen, and one that insists on plenty of sleep. Keep those internal fires stoked and revved up and tone up those flabby muscles and see just how much better you feel about yourself and how much more positive life seems once you take charge.

Now close your eyes and picture yourself and your mental state; just how much healthy living and lifestyle change can you put up with and stay the course. Emotions run our lives because we are human and we are built that way; so you must take stock of your emotional health as well as your physical, because the two go hand in hand and one must be considered as equally as the other. If you are not ready to make a big change in your way of thinking and your lifestyle so you can work on that body fat and lose it, then any diet plan will not work. You have to do the emotional work first and be ready for the pitfalls that your emotions can throw you into, that trigger your food cravings.

If you are ready for a new you and you have taken on the motto of “got body fat, lose it”; then it is time to choose an eating plan and lifestyle change that will trigger the emotions that are inside you and help you with your makeover. Remember to choose a plan that mirrors your lifestyle, your food likes and dislikes, and the exercise that will fit the plan and be one you enjoy doing so you will keep up with it. Don’t take on something you know doesn’t feel right in the beginning because it will fail; be true to yourself and what you feel inside, and work from there first so you can put together a workable way of living that will change not only your body, but also your life.
